Hi,
I am coming from Austria to the bahamas in July and would like to know if there are general rules about kiting on Abaco. Are there signposted spots?
Thank's a lot in advance,
Henry Oberdorfer
Do you mean flying a kite? Flying yourself? Or, passing bad checks (US slang expression). Or....maybe surfing behind a kite?
No, I never saw any posted areas, although I have seen guys on boards being pulled by a kite at Treasure Cay Beach and off of Guana. There are no restrictions ... TC beach is especially nice because there are (almost) no reefs to turn you into shark bait.
kite wherever you want, drink wherever you want, surf wherever you want, it's the bahamas!

Right, kite-boarding, a relatively new "extreme" sport involving a small board like a water ski and a parabolic kite or chute. I might suggest keeping 100 feet away from swimmers and divers and boaters ... just the regular common sense. The water is usually gin-clear, so you'll see the coral heads and rocks just fine. Cowabunga, dude... ;)

Thanks a lot for answering! Now I am really looking forward to kitsurfing in July! If you see someone with a green Kite flying in the air, that's me!:D
Have a nice day!
