View Full Version : Terrible storms today
We had 5 inches of rain in less than 2 hours here in the settlement. Some awesome thunder and lightning too. I managed to capture this before the rain started falling on Guana. This was only one of several waterspouts that occured during the storm. There was a much bigger one before this one developed. Not a good picture but there was lightning all around and I was ready to run for cover.

Thanks Pat. Great to hear that you are safe and holding things down at the Fig Tree!

Hi. A beautiful photo, BTW. As long as we're here admiring that one, and there for all the normally posted beautiful day photos :>)
We're chartering a catamaran for two weeks starting June 15, so I hope it gets all the long rains and storms out of its system now!

dramatic storms today. Was at Snappas for lunch with fellow teachers when a big, thick, powerful waterspout formed just outside the harbour at Marsh Harbour and tracked towards Hope Town just ahead of it's storm. Finally (and thankfully) got absorbed up into it's cloud as the rain ran ahead of her... Rained all afternoon, buckets of it, in Marsh Harbour. Glad the cays got some for the cisterns!

We had to leave the far south end of Guana to catch the 2:00 ferry yesterday, and it was the middle of the storm. We had two bags of garbage, our luggage, and 3 on the cart. The dirt road south of Orchid Bay was flooded and water was gushing up over the front and the sides of the cart. We felt like we were in a boat! We got totally drenched, lightening was flashing all over the place, and we were freezing. We finally got to the dock, and there was no place to stand to get out of the rain. Mark had to return the golf cart and then run back to the ferry.
All we could do was laugh.
We got to the Conch Inn and changed into dry clothes, went to the souvenir shop and bought flip flops since our shoes were soaking, and then off to the airport.
Abaco is not for sissies!
P.S. Have to report that the cracked conch at the little restaurant/bar by the airport is great!

Saw that one, we were deep dropping off N MOW when we saw all the lightning and the waterspout. Raced back to the marina and about the time the last line was tied off, the good lord started watering his lawn.:D
