Does anyone know what the departure tax is these days out of MHH? We were there 3 years ago and it was $15/pp then. We arrive Sat. and are very excited ..but then we reality sets in and we gotta think about leaving....:(

Do they add the departure tax to your airline ticket? We thought we would have to actually pay this but never did. We had frequent flyer miles so didn't really pay that much attention to our ticket. When we left the Turks and Caicos a few years back, I thought we actually "paid" someone.

3 years ago we flew on USAirways and had to pay departure tx in cash leaving fm MHH. This year we're flying AA - just checked my paper ticket (long story about paper vs e-ticket) - there are 3 taxes listed and one is in the amt of $15 - and that is for both ways...so it could be taken care of in the fare.

Just departed on Continental and they charged it to my ticket -- $19.

My first trip to Abaco (1999) we met 3 girls in Marsh Harbour. They had flown in to meet someone the following day on a sailboat. They did not make a hotel reservation assuming they could just find a room when they got there. A stranger in Marsh Harbour, on a sailboat, let them sleep on their sailboat and they spent the night with friends with a house. We ran into these girls everywhere we went all week, they even came to an impromptu dinner we threw. Anyway, when we were leaving they were in the airport at the same time and between the three of them they didn't have enough $ to pay the departure tax. We loaned it to them but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have minded having an excuse to stay!
wow..talk about good trip planning...

As per my calculation, US + Bahamas fees and taxes on a per person basis is USD 55.50, not including possible fuel surcharges and the fee at the Jetcenter at FLL for inbound passengers. Just for comparison purposes, I had to pay USD 172.45 in taxes, fees and other charges for a RT ticket to Europe (which corresponds to 20 % of the ticket price (incl taxes and fees etc.).
If fuel surcharges would be included for this RT ticket to The Abacos, then total taxes, fees and other charges could rise up to approx. 24 % of the total ticket price (incl. fees, etc).
