Just returned from Elbow Cay yesterday. My wife and I were celebrating 25 years of mostly bliss and wanted some place special. Special is what we found. The island is an enchanted place without locks on doors, many smiling and friendly people. Life is a simpler and happy place. I know there must be trevails there but those who live there do have a little piece of heaven. Thanks to the Abaco Inn for a wonderful place to stay and good food. Thanks to Munchie for his singing and great sandwiches. I have been to a number of countries and on a number of vacations, but this by far is the best place I have ever been. Met a wonderful couple from Marblehead Mass. who were taking a boat to Carolinas. Will be visiting them some time soon in Boston. Carole doesn't care much for cool weather, but even the blast of wind and cool air did not bother her. She too already misses the place. Almost forgot. For us the best overall hangout place was on da beach at turtle hill. Don't miss it. Great drinks and food. More later and pictures later this week.

This is one of the best posts I've read in a while. We've been back now for a month and I miss it so much. Abaco, Treasure Cay and Green Turtle Cay were beautiful, peaceful and absolute paradise! I can't wait to get back.

Beachbum ,I agree with AbacoNewbie. It set my heart to pounding. I haven't been there yet but everyday I seem to get more excited. Thanks for the post, looking forward to the photos.

Totally agree with Beachbum 1960. We celebrated our 25th there also and would not suggest anywhere else. We didn't stay on Elbow Cay but most likely will next time. We also missed da beach - we were headed there and got side tracked at Sea Spray - amazing fish cakes!! Have decided to forgo any celebrations so we can save all our money for next year!

I haven't made it back in over 2 yrs now...and am "Jonesing" to get there again. Hopefully later this year. There is absolutely no place like the Abacos. We've always stayed on TC, but rent a boat and hit each cay every time. Glad you enjoyed your stay and have great things to say !! Just "whisper" them so not too many folks discover the slice of Heaven.

Yes, it's hard to beat the Out Islands, the people, the water, the beaches, the drinks(!!). We try to spend a couple of weeks, a couple of times a year somewhere in the Out Islands, mostly Abaco. One special thing we did in Eleuthera a few years back is we renewed our wedding vows on our 10th, we had our 5 month old with us, it was pretty special. It wasn't on the beach, but our 20th is coming up, and it will be on the beach!
