Abaco Freedom, otherwise known as the "Cruising Hotel" made it through Jeanne in great shape, riding out the rage in the middle of Marsh Harbour on four anchors. Our dock was destroyed, however, so we had to move the boat around to Boat Harbour for at least the next three months.
We are, for the most part, fully functional with internet (thanks to the hard work of OII), telephone, local cell phone, etc. If we can help get in contact with people here, or find out information for you, please call us toll-free from the U.S. (and maybe Canada?) at 1-888-676-4478 or our local number (242) 357-6966, or e-mail us at abaco_freedom@yahoo.com (abaco_freedom@yahoo.com) and give us the contact details or information needed. We will do our best to make contact or find out what you need to know.
We also wrote a detailed account of our experiences riding out Frances and Jeanne. We moved to Abaco August 1 and, well, it’s been an interesting two months! The story is a little too long to post here, but if you would like some more reading material, e-mail us and we will be glad to forward it to you.
