Hi everyone,
We've been reading all the reports about damage etc. & we're sure everyone is pulling together to help out. Does anyone know of the where-abouts of Jennie & Paul Zehler who are teachers at Central Primary?? I read that it was being used as a shelter, & knowing them, they are probably helping out at the school. Also Kim at the coffee shop & Janine at the Lazy Parrot. Any info would be very reassuring as we can't reach them on the phone.

I have not seen Jennie & Paul since the storm but I really haven't been in town. I could try and get info for you a fellow teacher of theirs lives across the street. I know that Kim and her family are fine. They had some damage to their home but the coffee shop is fine and Kim should be back at work by next week.

Hope this helps

The last time I spoke with Paul, he mentioned they had accepted positions in the Caymans because it was a signatory to some animal import treaty and their contract with the Bahamas was concluded. The US was not a signatory to said treaty and they did not want to leave the animals behind so they did not persue positions in S. FL. There was also an article in a recent (pre-hurricanes) Abaconian about them and their animals. Does anyone have additional information?

We met Jennie & Paul the day before we pulled off the dock to prepare for Jeanne - great people - they helped us secure a room at Island Breezes for the storm. They said they were planning to leave Abaco, but not for a few weeks. We have not seen them since, but I will try to find out more tomorrow.
