I spoke with Patti just a few minutes ago and she asked me to post that they are fine, the house made it just fine and they now live on an island in itself called, "Patti Peninsular" They have no utilities as of yet. They send their love to all and told me to mention that the Cruisers Net didn't miss one day of broadcasting!

Thanks for the update! I will pass that on to family. It sounds like they won't get phone or electricity back for quite a while, the surge likely yanked out all those lines along with the road? Hopefully the WiFi antenna will be operational soon so Patti can access email again soon.

Thanks again!
Trent

The Gordons send love to the Tolers! Wish we could help!

Thanks to everyone who has called and written, we JUST got online--looks like Cocotels may take awhile though. Lessons we have learned: from Floyd-autonomy. from Jeanne-redundancy.
I will try to get back to each of you individually, but "life maintenance" is VERY time consuming right now. Indeed Eastern Sjore is (almost) a cay! (there is a very small footpath connecting us to Abaco) they say it will be filled in yesterday. As far as phones and elec six to eight weeks is what the last estimate I heard was. It's a miracle, but thanks to Mr. Dawkins in Water and Sewer, we do have water which is a big help, because we can clean up now and wash windows etc (not to be indelicate, but there are other, more personal plusses to fresh water too)
Things are probably pretty bad, but it dosent feel like it. Friends and neighbors have all joined in and helped each other out. We are humbled and in debt to many who stop by each day with a little bit of humor or supplies, or fuel for the generator. It's rewarding to be here just now, and to have gotten through another one...priceless.

No damage to The Blue Dolphin (Percey Archer knew how to build a house) save a small decorative wall on the beach side (north) which was probably fifty years old and lightly built for decoration to begin with. Eastern Shore took a beating, but most houses are fine. I think all have some damage even if it is just in the garden. Once again the trees are bare-like a bomb went off, but we know from experience that in a months time, visitors will say "why, it dosent even LOOK like you had a storm here"

Again, thank you for all the lovely emails, thoughts, prayers, vibes et al.

We spent a phenominal week last spring in Pineapple Cottage. The owners, Mark and Patty Gonsalves were so nice and we loved it. Have reservations to return in March but have been unable to contact them to see how they made out in the storms. If anyone has information, please respond. Thank you TC

I find this new message board much hader to navigate then the former format. Is it just me, I can't find an easy place to post, everything seem to be a response. Anyone that can help please advise. Theresa

Theresa,
I think you'll find your answer if you click on the "Forum" sub-link near the top of the page. That will give you the main list of all the recent threads. Near the top of the thread list there's a button to start a new thread which will open the form for a new post.

Well, they are coming up in the most unusual sequences...but they ARE coming up--my advice--keep trying, you just never know...

Meanwhile, anybody in particular you need to reach?

Blessing from Chicago. As a frequent visitor to the Abaco Islands, I'm so happy to have found this site and to learn you all are getting along as best as possible. Many fellow mainlanders and I were worried about you all, and we can't wait to come back again in the spring.

Best wishes and good luck to all.

They are fine--open for business. No E-mail yet, but their phones are up.
