We are thinking about a trip to Guana in July. We have been there a couple of times before, but never in July. What's it like there in July? Are places open? It the weather OK? Thanks.

July is a busy time in the Abacos. Its hot and sometimes downright steamy even at night but there is plenty of water surrounding us to cool yourself off!!
If you plan on coming to Guana, start planning on where you would like to stay and if you plan on renting a boat reserve it soon.
Everything is open in July and lots of people will be here.

We were there last year the week directly after Regatta( in July), and it was great! Hot,but great breezes and water remedy that- but that means it is plenty warm to hit the water early and stay in later. Everything was open. Nice warm evenings for hanging out on the dock and grilling out, etc.

July is my favorite time. Keep in mind that "busy" and "crowded" are relative terms. We were there during Regatta week and while GTC was sort of crowded during one evening, it was nothing compared to crowds you may be used to in the US. The beaches were just as isolated during the day. The streets were empty during the day. There was a party on the Government dock that night, and that is the only time we saw a "crowd" of any sort.

July is hot, but the heat doesn't bother me, especially when surrounded by beautiful gin clear water.

A downside to July is frequent thunderstorms, but they are usually brief, providing some respite from the heat and some time to curl up with a good book inside. If you are out on a boat, you can usually skirt around them.

July is also my favorite time. regatta week and then the fourth of july and then the bahamian new year are great party times. but the good part is that the party kind of stays around the nippers/public dock area. so you can always get away from it. theres always a lot going on but still plenty of room on the island to be isolated if you need a break for a few days from the craziness. The weather is extremely warm but theres usually a slight breeze that makes it tollerable. also about the thunderstorms. i have heard they are common at this time of year and we went through a few of them but they seem to blow by fairly quickly. the ocean water is also extremely warm. its almost like viewing the reef in a hott tub. just my 2 cents :-)
