hello everyone...being a 1st timer travelling in April - just wanted you all
to know how very informative I think this board is.
Do you think it's necessary to do shopping in Marsh Harbour prior to our arrival in Elbow Cay???
or does Elbow Cay's grocery stores carry enough items???
Really dont plan to cook more than breakfast and an occasional lunch.
A must have are munchy type food, beer, rum, pineapple juice.

One concern is milk - my 9 yr old drinks a ton of it! Will I find
regular milk ... or will I find the Parmalat type of milk...?

thanks everyone - appreciate all the info this site provides

We usually do the major trip in Marsh harbour on the way to boat rental. However, if you plan to eat out most meals, you can find what you want in Elbow. We are big milk drinkers( we have 2 kids) and refill a few times during our stay at the grocery right on the water in Hopetown Harbour. If you plan to buy a lot of lunch meat, chips, and soft drinks, etc., it might be beneficial( for variety) to shop at Soloman's in Marsh harbour, then get milk, ice cream, etc. in Hopetown.

Just an FYI- we just arrived last week.

If you happen to arrive on Sunday- there is only one market open on Sundays in Hopetown and it is only open until 2pm.

Otherwise, you really can get anything you need on hopetown. There are 4 markets here and between all of them you can find almost anything with the exception of exotic foods. Doesnt sound like you need that. Milk is no problem just a bit more expensive. I would get deli meats elsewhere if you will need them.

Have a great time and dont forget to buy your bread at Vernon's market in Hopetown- fresh made everyday! It is great.

Cheers-

Just to update, Abacoease has now joined with Solomons and Cost Right in Marsh Harbour which will allow us greater access to products and requests for specialty items.
