On behalf of the entire Weatherford family here on Guana Cay, MH, MOW, Nassau, and beyond. I would like to thank everyone who has posted their condolences and their memories of Mr. Percy.
Mr. Percy was buried around 9:30 am on Sept. 24th. Because of the impending storm, it was a short but respectful ceremony.
Josie is doing well but substained some damage to her house during the storm. As Jeanne came at us from the back side, the wind blew her A/C inside her livingroom which allowed water to blow in and soak her carpet, walls, furniture, and new tv. The attic door blew open and the wind just sucked the water into her closet and soaked her clothes. Shingles were missing but Sidney and his brother patched up what they could for now. But all in all, she is in pretty good spirits and is trying to plan a memorial for Percy. Of course with no phone service, this is where the "Coconut Telegraph" comes into play. We have to rely on sending messages through the ferry drivers or maybe someone comes by in their boat and we can get messages back and forth to family on the other islands.
I have a favor to ask of anyone who might be coming to Guana in the near future. Because of the storm, its hard to find a flower of any kind here on the island. If any of you have the time can you go by a store and grab a few silk or plastic flowers and throw them in your bag? It would be for Mr. Percy. Sidney mentioned the other day that we didn't even have flowers for his dad. If any of you can do this favor for me, I would greatly appreciate it and I know it would make Josie happy.
Thanks so much everyone!
