Elbow Cay Questions There are several posts on this site asking specifics about houses and or people.

Please be aware that everybody you know and care about on Elbow Cay, Tilloo, Lubbers and Parrot Cay is SAFE and suffered no injury.

**It is important to note that phones, power and internet are all DOWN and are not likely to be restored for about THREE WEEKS, maybe longer. Nobody on the island has the ability to make or receive phone callls, send faxes or even view this website. A limited amount of official safety orientated traffic is being transmitted back and forth by satellite e-mail and phones. Your friends and family are safe but you cannot phone them and they cannot call you.

Houses that received damage are listed on the Hope Town Fire Rescue website which you can view at http://www.hopetownfirerescue.com (http://www.hopetownfirerescue.com/)

IF A PARTICULAR HOUSE OR RESORT IS NOT MENTIONED THEN IT RECEIVED NO NOTABLE DAMAGE.

The assessment of property damage done by HTVFR immediately after the storm is for the purpose of advising Government and other interested parties and to get an overall picture of the damage. After the initial damage assessment, it is up to the caretakers of each property to note damage in greater detail and advise the owners accordingly. In most cases, owners of property that has been damaged have, or will shortly be travelling to Abaco to make repair arrangements.

HTVFR is a volunteer organization and members have jobs or other commitments as well as repairs to their own property or businesses to complete in many cases. HTVFR will not be travelling to other Cays to do damage assessments nor be doing any further assessments on Elbow Cay. We will be updating the HTVFR website as new information on the general situation becomes available.

Sorry but we have no information on house rental status, booking agents etc..

**Note from the moderators: THIS APPLIES TO ALL OF ABACO!! Please try to refrain from making posts inquiring about personal property.

As a regular visitor to Hopetown I have been watching this site and the HTFR site with interest hoping to hear some good news for all the people who make visiting the Abacos such a pleasure. I think it is fantastic and almost unbelievable that no one was injured in Hopetown, this is something we should all be thankful for.
I can understand the worry and concern that property owners have for their boats and homes, it must be a terrible strain not knowing what has happened.
I think that Hopetown Fire and Rescue has done an absolutely outstanding job of keeping people informed. I experienced a minor hurricane on the island several years ago and saw how hard people struggled to cope with that, I can barely imagine the extent of the difficulties today.
I hope that all those people who have relied on HTFR for information about their friends, family and possesions will remember that this is a volunteer organization. It relies on donations to keep running, please consider helping them to continue helping you.

If anyone sees Dr. Dudan at Islands Away, please have him try to call Jane on her cell phone. Junior at Seaspray can contact him.

Thanks to HTFR for keeping us so informed and updated. It has been hard to get any information here in the states about Hopetown. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you and we hope you are able to get some rest also.

Thank you also to the Forum members for the information we were given. It is so reassuring to here that no one has been killed or injured badly. With no phone service it is a relief just to here that things are getting back to normal and people are getting to asscess the damage.

If any one sees Ginny or Jerry Sasse tell them we are all thinking of them from home.
