We are planning a sailing trip in June, leaving from Marsh Harbour, and thought it might be worthwhile for the family to have a fishing guide for a day. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Buddy Pinder for bonefish, permit, etc. (242)366-2163
Robert Lowe on Elbow Cay (Hopetown) for deep-sea. His brother Maitland also guides for bones.

Robert Lowe out of Hope Town for deep sea fishing. He's hard to beat.

Henry Sands on Guana is really good.

Alan,

You have about the best two offshore guides anywhere in Robert, and Henry - you can't go wrong with either.

Check out Fishing in Abaco (http://www.************/FishininAbaco2005.html); there's a comprehensive list of guides at the end of the article.

I thank everyone for their suggestions. Is fishing gear reasonably priced in the Abacos, or should I purchase some basic gear before arrival. I would want a collapsible rod for travel. If we wish to carry on our gear, is a rod and reel now considered a weapon.

Robert Lowe has my vote, as well. My son and I went out with him last June. Great time, lots of fish! Here are a few pics...

Nothing like a good fishing trip with his dad to put a smile on a young mans face!

If you plan to hire a guide and boat, I expect you will not need to bring any gear. Enjoy!

Ditto for Robert Lowe on Elbow Cay and Henry Sands on Guana.
Both not only catch fish, very important, but equally important are
great guys that you will enjoy spending a day on their both not
only learning about Abaco fishing but Abaco life.

Nope,
Robert talks them into giving themselves up and getting in the boat.

Here's your sign! I am hoping that there was a typo there.
My parents recently had a man come deep clean thier carpet, we were standing in the driveway, as he was giving instructions on how long to wait before walking on the carpet. As we were talking My parents chickens were walking around our feet in the driveway, he looked at me and asks, "are those your Chickens?" I could only reply "Nope those are automatic feather dusters"......It is amazing the things people say without thinking.

Nope,
Robert talks them into giving themselves up and getting in the boat.

Just off Elbow Cay in mid-June. Three good size dolphin fish, four wahoo, 4 cuda and a couple of jacks. not a bad morning.
