Gusto, KiaOra,Evening Star, Koyukon,Journey,
Isabel,all in Eastern Harbour,ManO'War.Spent hurricane
in little house high on hill. During 2 hour 40 mile
wide eye walked to waterfront-full moon high tide with
water 5 feet over road-boats floating or sunk
helterskelter-devastation! Fortunately this time all but one of
the Eastern Harbour boats stayed on their moorings. We
have suffered some damage, and have to go to Marsh
Harbour at week's end to have anchor rollers
welded.Locals say this was worst hurricane since 1926-the high
water did so much damage. The Marsh Harbour Marina-Jib
room had 3'flooding and we hear was the only marina in
the harbour that did not suffer catastrophic
damage.Eastern Shore's road washed out at Crossing Beach and has
no ingress or egress-Bob and Pattie Toler's 6 foot
wall around their house is gone. Boats, we understand,
were in Sapodilli's yard.Silk Purse-Ron,Terry,Matey-went
back to Port St.Lucie after Hur.Frances since Terry's
dog grooming business lost its roof and was out of
business-needed to settle some insurance items-now
understand that area was hit with this hurricane also.Have
not heard how they did this time. We will all
survive!!! online at oii a week ago today (last Monday was the
first day oii was open after Hur.Frances)

Hello everyone,
Thanks so much for your well wishes and all the help
you all provided. Kristen and I were able to make it
down to Trini with all the pumps pushing the water out
of the hull as fast as it came in. It was a close call
but we were out of options and had to take the chance.
Thank goodness for Rule pumps and gas operated trash
pumps!!!
We are on the hard at Caribbean Yacht Works in
Chaguaramus and will probably be here for several months. The
hard work begins now as the boat is hurt bad but she
sure is a tough little boat!!! She went over a reef,
came back across the same reef and wound up buried up to
her gunnels on the beach. We dug her out, righted her
with a kedge anchor rigged from the masthead and
pulled her off with a tug all while fighting off looters
and foraging for water and food!! I have never eaten so
many green coconuts in my life but they are the
perfect food; they were laying everywhere and contained
about a pint of water and a nice snack!!!!!
Believe me when I say we are alot better off than alot
of our friends and are thankful to have been able to
save our boat. alot of people cannot say that!!
I wish I could respond personnally to everyone but I
just do not have the access to a computer long enough
to write back to every one right now! Keep us in your
thoughts but rest assured that we are well, safe and
Kandu will sail again!!!!!!!!
All the best,
Max and Kristen
