If I can get in this weekend I will get you as much information as possible. I will have digital camera in hand. All depends on the airport being open.

Not until all of the BEC power lines that are down can be repaired!

Does anyone know how I can get in touch with the folks at Dolphin Beach Resort? We're supposed to go there 10/28 for a week and we need to know ASAP if we have to cancel so we can make other arrangements. I've been e-mailing them since the last hurricane (Francis) and the phone recording says all lines are busy. Thanks.

Linda, you are going to have to give it at least a few more days as all telephone service is out or seriously compromised. Very little information is coming forth from Guana Cay at this point, only 72 hours after the storm. Guana Cay is a tiny, tiny place with a local population of under 100 souls. Right now they have no power, no phones, no internet, inadaquate supplies and many other worries. I know that the weather after this last storm has been very uncomfortable - hot, humid and lots of rain. Dolphin Beach, once they are back on their feet, will be very responsive to your questions. They are a wonderful group of folks running the place and will assure you as to what their situation is in all honesty. Linda, you will love the people of Guana Cay. It is a very innocent and beautiful place and unimaginable that they are a mere 150 miles off the coast of the comercialism and materialism of the USA. Your best bet is to keep watching this board for info. The Dolphin Beach folks will find you once their comms. are established.

Thanks for the info. Nancy. I don't mean to sound insensitive to the needs of the people on Guana Cay. As we all know the airlines do not care about hotel conditions
or lost $$ on vacations. I really do hope things work out and we can come to the beautiful island of Guana Cay.

Got an email from Pat W. (She is running on their generator). She wanted me to tell you that Jinx and Becky from DBR are not on the Island right now. I am sure they will contact you when they return.

Pat does not paint a very pretty picture. Things are a mess!

Pat also said that BEC is supposed to be back on Guana tomorrow to assess the damage and do repairs. When the repairs are done, the generator will be fired back up.

To everyone: My personal suggestion is to give these people a chance to try to pick up their lives! Please try to have a little patience. It has been repeated over and over that there are NO phones and NO power. Therefore, communications can be difficult if not impossible -- Peach

I agree with last two or three posts. While these are tough folks they have been beaten back by weather to 1960s communications mode. they will be back loud and strong, but they need a little breathing room. Linda, best thing to do is to talk to Brock who may be there this weekend and can get you answers. I will be talking to some folks soon also I hope and will try to answer DBR questions for you. You need to put yourself in non electric, much less non electronic, non phone mindset and you will realize you will have your answers, just not as fast as you or the rest of us in US would like or are used to.

Airlines are allowing folks 30+ days to make changes without penalities if you talk nice to them. The folks in Guana want your biz, it's just going to take a while.

Many of us have houses there and haven't been able to talk to anyone since eye of the storm went over the island on Sat morning to see how are houses are, so we understand your frustration, but know that "this to will pass" and things will get back to normal.

Like this board's motto--Abaco is NOT for sissies. That's not derogatory, it's attitudinal!!

I know what all us property owners are going through right now. But for us, mostly, it's just an information problem. For the people on the islands it's much worse and we all know that. If I can get my flight in with my generator in hand on Saturday and the roof is still on my house I will get you all as much information as possible. I will have my digital camera and will give as many of you that I can detailed reports and pictures.
