With Frances we were able to get a number of reports from all islands via sat phone, sat internet, etc. the info seems to have almost dried up in last 2-3 hours with passage of back half of storm over the outer islands.
Anyone hearing anything that is not being posted on the island specific boards?
Fear that this is disabling communications much more than Frances which may mean a lot more other damage. Hope I am wrong. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the wonderful/tough folks of Abaco.

Heard on zns, a man called in from crosssing rocks, the batelco tower is missing aprox 80' off the top. Could explain the lack of com from marsh harbour. The man said that everyone down there was fine. Listening to zns helps because people from outer areas are calling in to convey messages. You can listen to it live at

Hope this helps in some way, I know how difficult it is waiting for news. Tracey B

Phones were on until noon or so, but went off the track around 5:00p today nationwide. We can't get through to Nassau or Eleuthera or Harbour Island right now ** although the phones were fine all morning ** and so am assuming that the Batelco towers in freeport really got creamed. We're getting sat reports via Direcway 2-way from Harbour Island, but that's it right now. Globalstar and Iridium phones can't get through anywhere in the country, even those belonging to local government officials, oversaturation according to their sales staff.

storm that is reported to do somewhat similar damage as Floyd and more than Frances and on zns you get regular Sunday religious programming and on 94 fm music.
that really is the definition of a laid back place.
