Our friends at Ft Pierce Marina

Did not fare well through Frances. Here is a quote from one at the Marina.
"Hi, remember how great the Ft. Peirce Marina was ? That large boat up on the dock is docked right where you were. Amazingly, our little group of boats was spared, minor to medium damage. Approx. 70 boats were lost, 16 still unaccounted for. All of the floating docks let loose, guess 18 hrs. of gale winds will do that."

Sorry for their misfortune. It was the most friendly place we came across during our last trip.
Very nice folks. We hope they recover quickly.

I think alot of the pictures on the Boat US site are from the Ft Pierce Marina. What really gets to me is how many boats still had canvas, sails, and all kinds of scrap on board. These things create uneccesary windage and can make a difference in the survival of your vessel. I feel mostly sorry for those who prepared their vessel only to get ramed by one which did not do much at all.
