Latest NHC discussion says, "Unfortunately . . . the westerly track brings her very close to the northern Bahamas in 60 to 72 hours."

...this hurricane, as well as related NHC predictions, have been all over the western Atlantic. The forecast changes dramatically every six hours. Don't go to sleep on Jeanne, but don't get too worked up. I think the lesson here is: despite all their crowing over new supercomputers and the ability to predict the course of these storms five days in advance, it's still a very inexact "science."
We went to bed on Thursday, August 12, feeling comfortable that the NHC prediction put Hurricane Charley's course well to the west of us (in greater Daytona Beach). When we woke up the next morning, the projected course was right through our front yard--it did happen, we got the eye. Point is, you just can't hang your hat on these four and five day predictions; they even miss by hundreds of miles at 24-36 hours.

thats the computer models...we are under most of those squiggly lines! Lol Dont have the energy for another storm. They have predicted 14 named storms this year. 12 down, 2 to go! Go away Jeanne!

It sucks.
Anyone naming their children Frances or Jeanne may be banned from Abaco.

Whatever happens, may it be peaceful in the Abacos.
its not too peaceful in the Abacos right now and hasn't been for two days now. The wind is roaring and I can hear the surf pounding all day and night. Its a sight to see, thats for sure!

last thursday i was on a plane to MH and HT to do some clean up at our house and sit out jeanne who was predicted to hit on sunday or monday.
one week later - deja vu, except i'm not on a plane. now i wish i had just stayed in HT for the duration.
let's hope this crazy hurricane does another crazy thing - like head EAST into the atl. to blow herself out.
be safe everyone.

Got to admit that the Navy / NOGAPS model has called it very well for both storms so far. It is the model of choice for me. If the US Navy moves their ships by it, I will also. See

You go past Key Lime cottage and turn on the road on the right past the cottage. There are some steps down to the beach there and I sat and took pictures.

Hello all boat owners from Green Turtle Cay
I was able to travel to the boatyard at AYS and spend a week after Frances pushed through and see the yard first hand.
The yard was immaculate only days after the storm and other than the three sailboats down, a lot of water inside boats, and some missing windex indicators aloft, most boats faired well.
Coquette is still blocked up and was made ready for Jeanne almost a week ago.
Thanks to the Roberts family for the help in blocking her up well and ready for whatever comes Green Turtles Way.
If anyone would like to set up a posts for boat information on the web after the weather pushes through, please do so.
Adam
