We had a fantastic time on our recent trip to Hopetown. Hope to get back soon. While boating, we saw the castle structure on Tilloo Cay. Might I ask who owns that? Looks like there is a airplane hangar there as well.

I met the owners while snorkeling that area. They just motored up in a dingy and started talking. They were very nice and pointed up to an area that they had sunk a sea plane after a hanger fire. We were able to find the tail section of the plane. That area is my absolute favorite anchorage even though we have only found one keeper conch there in 2 years.

I believe the owners are the Ansbach's (sp?)

Correct. DR. Anspach I believe - he has a business that specializes in the manufacture surgical tools.

I was thinking that he invented the artificial hip/knee something along those lines.

Just south of there is where we like to snorkel. White sand bottom with huge colorful starfish every few feet- the undersea park is there. My kids call it the starfish field( Tilloo bank area). The house/castle there is gorgeous and I believe they call it The Far Side, and the land behind the castle up over Tilloo and to the Atlantic is being sold to families as the Tilloo Beach Subdivision. We are building there on the Atlantic. There will be no major development or formal road- just a basic path through the woods, which is why we want to be there. A dock is being built for homeowners/rentals to tie up to just south of the castle on the sea. That whole area is a true gem.

One more thing, where is the plane sunk? We have not snorkeled near a plane, so would like to find it. Is it north or south of the land the castle sits on? In front of the hangar in that cove? Thanks!!!
