Hello All:

My husband & I are going to Abacos, Treasure Cay on Jan. 31st. I've arranged all the stuff except for a flight from Fort Lauderdale to the island. Can anyone recommend a company to fly with? Any help would be much appreciated. The only thing that I know for sure is that we should not land at Marsh Harbour as it will cost more to get to our place. Thanks,

Louise

http://www.airsunshine.com/ has daily flights for $199. Buy 5 trips, get 6th free. Have never used them, but plan to next trip. Maybe someone can give feedback on Sunshine Air?

We flew FCA from Fort Lauderdale to Marsh Harbour and return in mid July. My wife and I are both amateur pilots, and were satisfied with the "puddle jumper" Cessna 402 twin aircraft. Even though the aircraft are Mid '70s vintage, they are well-equipped and maintained. Despite rough weather on the way back to Fort Lauderdale, we had a smooth and safe trip. Nice people, and convenient (for us) location at Terminal 4 in FLL. They have a website with online reservations (some flights to Treasure Cay). They show prices of about $89.00 each way, but you have to add security fees. Beware the 44# weight limit. Over the weight allowance they charge $1/# with a $10 minimum charge. You may want to google search "Air Sunshine" to read about their safety record. May be improved since they are still in business? Have a great trip.

After all the time and all the postings on the Abacoboard, it is incredible, that Air Sunshine still holds out and offers flights to The Bahamas, although they cannot perform these flights themselves due to the revocation of their operating permit by the Bahamian authorities. Or did they get it back? I was not able to get information about the accident report of the crash off TCB. Maybe someone can enlighten me?

Thanks for the heads up as far as Air Sunshine. They don't seem to have a very good track record. I, too, wonder how they continue to do business in the Bahamas. Also, I misquoted their frequent flier special. Purchase four round trip flights, get fourth free. Maybe not worth the risk?

My husband and I have used Yellow Air Taxi on several occasions, and we've been very pleased with them. Always very courteous and reasonably priced. In addition to Marsh, they do fly to Treasure Cay from Fort Lauderdale.

Thanks all so much for your help with flights. Much appreciated. Now, I'll try to find them on the net. First time to the Bahamas. The last two years, we've gone to Salt Cay in the Turks & Caicos. Small island of 70 people. This should be very different! Again, thanks so much. Great message board.

What is the best way to get info on flight schedules for FCA?

I've always taken Continental, but would be interested in finding other options. Before our trip in August, I checked the FCA website. I just checked it again...when I type in a trip date, the flights returned are not on the dates that I requested. Is this b/c there are no flights on the dates requested?
Thanks-

My husband just flew down to MH and used FCA. He needed to come home sooner than planned and when I called FCA to change the flight they informed me that they had just changed their schedule in flying to MH and TC. If I remember correctly, they dont fly on Tues. or Wed. He ended up coming back on Yellow Taxi, but even they have a limited schedule. He was very happy with both airlines. FCA bailed us out of a jam in June because we were scheduled with a different airlines, who never showed up on the day we were to leave. We were able to go with FCA! No problems! We are very happy with them and their service. FCA# is 1-888-IFLYFCA. Good Luck. Teri

Hi Copperkell!

That Cay by Turks and Caicos sounds wonderful. Was it great? Only 70 people, sounds good. We too are to be in TC that time of year, we usually fly Gulfstream via Continental Airlines and have been pleased. But Vintage Air was posted by AW's wife and it sounded good also. I am going to check them out (also want FT. Lauderdale). Need to start looking quickly I guess. I feel more secure with a little larger aircraft and 2 pilots. Just my two cents.

Had a ticket to fly with Air Sunshine today from MHH to FLL and they cancelled for no reason. Used Yellow Air Taxi yesterday, no problem. Beware of Air (not) Sunshine
