We are staying on Lubbers (and yes I just ordered the Dodge book) but just curious as to what the distance between islands are? I can't even begin to tell from the maps I've seen.

Just curious, as I have been reading on the board about all of these great places to go and just wanted to know how much time it would take (approximately) to all of these places?

Thanks in advance...

If I remember correctly, it took about 15 to 20 minutes from Lubbers back to Marsh Harbour in our 26' rental power boat. From Marsh Harbour to Guanna took about 30 minutes, but we were out on Eastern Shore. Elbow and Tahiti Beach are just across the way. Have a wonderful time!

You can pretty much see where you need to go, once you are familiar with the chart and know where to look. The Sea of Abaco is about 5 miles wide, max at the "hub of Abaco" between Marsh Harbour on Great Abaco and Hopetown on Elbow Cay. Here's a photo I took from the top of the Hopetown lighthouse. The lighting isn't so good, but you get the idea. The camera is looking almost due west from the lighthouse toward Great Abaco. The small islands in the foreground are the Parrot Cays. The next shore in the center is Sugarloaf Cay, which sits south off the peninsula running from Marsh Harbour called Eastern Shores. There's another island shore to the right, Matt Lowe's Cay. To get to Marsh Harbour from here, you would take your boat to the right around the Parrot Cays, then continue to the right around Matt Lowe's Cay and continue looping west for another 3 miles to get to the entrance of the harbor. If you are used to boating on bays or sounds, this should be no sweat. If you want to go to Nippers on Guana, give yourself 1 hour or better so you aren't rushed and can sightsee or slow down as needed. The total distance is only about 12 nautical miles, but first timers better not try to be Speed Racer with a rented boat. I found that figuring an average of 15 knots dock-to-dock with a rented Albury 23 worked well.
