Hi everyone,
I know everyone's efforts and attention are turned to Abaco's recovery from Frances, and our prayers are all that Jeanne spares Abaco.
However, in the midst of all of this, I am continuing to work on getting some much needed special supplies to ECC. Here's the scenario -- a wonderful Occupational Therapist in Philadelphia has donated a bunch of special things (pediatric wheelchairs and walkers, special positioning aids, feeding aids, communication aids, etc, etc) In short - she's gifted ECC with some very much needed stuff. A second angel stepped forward to get the items from this OT and transport it to a third angel who stepped forward to donate warehouse space for temporary storage. A pair of angels in Florida who have private planes have agreed to transport the items to Abaco, and the angels in Customs have been contacted by Lyn to insure that the items make it directly to her with the least possible hassle. We have one missing link... we need to get the items from their warehouse in Philly, to the angels in Florida. Is there anyone coming from Philly to either Atlanta or the West Palm area in the near future and would be willing to haul the items? I suspect we have enough stuff to probably fill a 14' box truck. If you can even get the items to me in Atlanta, I'll truck them the rest of the way to Florida. The items need to be cleared out of the warehouse by the end of the month if at all possible.
The goal is to have these items already at ECC when the rehab team (myself and a pediatric OT) arrive for a week November 15-22. This will enable us to teach the teachers how to use the items to help specific students. If you know of someone that can help, or if you are able to help out with this -- please e-mail me directly and let's try to arrange something. So far every miracle needed has fallen into place with this, and I'm sure we'll close the circle with that final missing link.
