Edmond says our house did fine in the storm, in fact, he says we have one of the surviving banana trees on the front lawn. Thank you so much Edmond Pinder. Thank you too, to the Otton family. Geoff Otton, father of Jay Otton, chef at Blue Water Grill, hooked us up with family on the island to get our 38' sailboat off the beach at Susan's Cove dock. None of this would be possible without the Abaco Message Board. All communications were conducted here as Bruce is in West Palm Beach still without power and I am in Maryland with the kids staying out of harms way. Bruce reports things in WPB still very difficult. Thank you Abaco Message Board, Edmond Pinder, Otton Family in New Jersey and in the Bahamas. Nancy and Bruce McDaniel

Does anyone know when the electricity is supposed to be restored back on Guana Cay?

Thanks,
Jennifer

BEC has been out and it took them several days to locate the problem We have a snapped cable! The cable is wrapped around the dock at Foot’s Cay. BEC says one week and many others are saying no way that’s going to take 2 to 3 weeks.

The wireless internet system should be up in a few days

The Cay will have fuel until Monday or maybe Tuesday. More fuel has been ordered but we have no idea when the barge will arrive.

Does anyone know when the electricity is supposed to be restored back on Guana Cay?

Thanks,
Jennifer

Just got an email from Troy at Dive Guana. Looks like the two ends of the cable are 5 miles apart, they need to get more cable, splice all together but need cable and barge to do so. Hopefully it will be this coming Friday.
It's true--"Abaco is not for sissies"!

Thank you for the information. I talked to Pat Weatherford, my mom, on Monday and she told me about the cable but I didn't know it was that bad, I don't even think she knew at the time. She was telling me about the damage on the island and I think it is heartbreaking. I pray that they get more gas soon so those that have generators can continue using them to keep living a half-way normal life!! There is one thing I know for sure is that my mother has showed me how much of a strong woman that she is by living the way she is living now!!! It just makes me admire her even more!!

I heard from 3 different people this

morning that BEC is having a huge generator shipped over from Nassau

that will power the whole Island. It should be here tomorrow. I'll let

you know.

Does anyone know when the electricity is supposed to be restored back on Guana Cay?

Thanks,

Hi Hope your recovery is going along okay. Does anyone know if the Dolphin Beach Resort is operating? We are scheduled to vacation there 10/28/04.

We are sure that anyone on Susan's Cove is fine what with the southwest orientation during the storm. We hear that Dolphin Beach Resort and Blue Water Grill are both fine and good to go after the traditional time/off closed for maintenance and uh-huph... hurricane season. We hear that the big-city generator has, in fact arrived on the island which is great news for the islanders. We hear that the beaches have gained yards and yards of sand. We are sure that Tami will update us from Guana as soon as she has a spare moment.

We're so glad to hear that Guana now has power even if it's not the permanent fix, it must have been extremely tough to go without for 2 weeks. Our prayers have been with you and it looks as though Jeanne is going to go NE of the Abaco's last time I checked. It looks like our favorite tree has finally met it's match, will it survive? We hope everyone is doing well, we'll be there in early November.

I don't want to give Brock a heart attack....the picture with the sand on the steps was Skip's house. Brock only had a gate knocked down and its been repaired.

Actually, the tree has sprouted news leaves and looks very healthy! The locals and second homeowners, did a great pruning job!

Had me excited to finally see pictures of our house. However, that is not a picture of the steps at our house. I belive that the pictures are of Skips house.

Thanks for the update.

Hi everyone. Yes, we did have some damge. Paul and I were in the house but were able to get out before the windows blew in. we all kind of walked around here like Zombies for a few days but are back at it. There is a lot of work to be done. The Spanish Wells boys are amazing for all they did and for thinking of others when it is so easy to get sucked into your own thing. The people hurt the most by this storm are the ones in MH and cities like Coopers Town and Fox Town. there are many people who have nothing. Everyone is doing what they can to help these people. I don't know who is running the relief efforts but lots of things are being done to help. Maybe Patti of the cruisers net has a list of goods needed for these people. We have power on Guana and music at Nippers life is getting back to normal. Our house will be back to normal soon. Thank you to all who emailed me for your thoughts abd prayers.
