Should visitors postpone their trips for a couple of weeks so the residents can concentrate on getting things in order? When will it be known whether it is safe for visitors to rent boats and cruise around?

I think it would be helpful so we would know whether to make arrangements and come when it would be beneficial for all. For example, we are to come Sept. 25th. Should we wait for a month or two?

I know it will be different for each island, so maybe this should be posted in the general area, or to each island's area.

Personally, I'd wait until well after hurricane season is over (ie, Nov or Dec), if for no other reason than avoiding getting stuck there if another comes (let us hope of course that one won't). And remember, it might take electricity a while to return to all on the island (=no A/C), so unless you are going to pitch in to help with the cleanup or go to repair property, I'd hold off.

Thanks, we can't get in touch with the management, airlines not responding either. I think we will just keep our deposit there on file, and go down later.

Many are looking for some guidance as to reschedule or not. Is there any way to get word out on the board? I would be hesitant to rent a boat and take day trips to the nearby islands, especially with the possiblity of submerged debris.

Thanks for the feedback. Thought about heading to the keys since we were flying into Ft. Lauderdale, but that was evacuated today. Maybe not the year to go.
