Can someone from NC please tell me the names of some airlines that fly out of NC to Marsh Harbor? I am looking to secure about 10 seats.

Thanks, Susan

We have taken US Airways out of Charlotte (CLT) flying to West Palm Beach, where we fly to Marsh Harbor (MHH) on Continental (Gulfstream). US Air, Bahamas Air & others leave from West Palm. However, there are no direct flights from CLT to MHH that I am aware of. All will have a stop & switchover to another flight.

So are there no direct flights to MHH from anywhere other than Florida?

I think you can fly US Air directly from Charlotte to Nassau and pick up Major Air, Air Abaco to MHH.

Has anyone ever chartered a flight from the Boston area (even southern NH) to MHH? I'd appreciate the names of any charter companies I could check with. I got nowhere with the Yellow Pages. Thanks.

Spirit Air is now offering $49 flights from Orlando to Nassau. From there, Bahamasair can fly you to and from Marsh Harbor for around $162 rt. There are no direct flights to MHH from outside FL, only Nassau or Freeport have direct flights.

A while back Air Tran had cheap flights into Grand Bahama. Does anyone know of any air carriers that operate directly between Freeport and Marsh Harbor? I looked pretty hard and couldn't find any. All I could find was Bahamasair, but that involved flying down to Nassau to catch another flight to Marsh Harbor.

I was just checking this afternoon from MCI Kansas City to Grand Bahama, I had to play with the Dates a little bit but I found a rate of $340 round trip. The same trip through everyone else was around $600 I have flown AirTran several times and have always had great service. I have also had several oppertunities to bump, giving me my next trip on the house. With the Great service and low fares they are a great choice.
When you get to Grand Bahama you take the Ferry to MH for $40 and have a friend pick you up. That is a $420 round trip and that is a good price from KC anyday.

......ferry service Grand Bahama to Marsh Harbour. The service is from Grand Bahama to Crown Haven, which is on the west end of Little Abaco. It entails a 60 mile? cab ride after the ferry. Try checking out Major Air for scheduled air service Grand Bahama to Marsh Harbour.....it's around 140.00 r/t but the times are tough to work out. Ken

SusanT - You asked about cherters out of Boston so this may help. If you have enogh people (or money), you can do an internet search for charter jets and their are several companies that will quote point to point charters using business jets or contact your local airline of choice ans see what it would cost to charter one of their planes. I believe Vintage does have jets with the range and seating to get a gang of people from Boston or Southern NH to MHH, call and check. Lets us know if the cost for the group is less using the charter route, may open up a new method of travel to MHH!!

We are flying in late Dec on Delta - RDU to ATL to West Palm - and change to Continental - West Palm to Marsh Harbor - return thru Ft. Lauderdale -ATL -RDU

Orbitz does a nice job of arranging this since no single airline website handles this very well.

I ment to say Crown Haven. MH is where I always stay when I get there, It must have been wishful thinking. If you look at the Abaconian Online it gives the Ferry rates.

Don't do it. I have family and friends that live on Abaco to pick me up, that is why I can take the ferry. I am sorry that I miss guided and put MH, I guess wishful thinking got the best of me.
If someone had planned to rent a Car anyway, you can rent a car at the Ferry dock in Crown Haven, then you would not have to worry about Taxis during the trip, or paying over $140 each way to get there. Just the Gas, and that ain't cheap. But it does give you an oppertunity to explore a part of the Island that most never see.
No matter what you do, always call ahead and make reservations. Companies on Abaco often are here today and Gone tomorrow, and with Hurricanes, some may no longer exist. If you have someone to pick you up thats great if not I would take others suggestions save money and fly.

Over the years, we have found American from RDU to be reliable. They all get a little questionable out of Florida due to weather and equipment issues. We have been delayed, rerouted, and stranded overnight, but it is all part of the adventure.

How regular and reliable is the ferry service from Nassau to Crown Haven? I am trying to find passage for a group of 30 from Philadelphia to Treasure Cy at the end of February.

How regular and reliable is the ferry service from Nassau to Crown Haven? I am trying to find passage for a group of 30 from Philadelphia to Treasure Cy at the end of February. There is no ferry service from Nassau to Crown Haven. There is a ferry sevice from Nassau to Sandy Point in the south but these two settlements are at opposite ends of Great & Little Abaco; about 100 miles!
The only practical way to get to Treasure Cay is to fly into its airport (TCB) or into Marsh Harbour (MHH) which is still not ideal because of the expensive taxi ride back to Treasure Cay. There is a car rental company located at MHH airport, however, so you could rent a car for your vacation. Try Sea Star Car Rentals. (242)367 4887.

Also, I wouldn't recommend anyone trying to get to MHH or TCB via Freeport (FPO), Grand Bahama using the Crown Haven Ferry. You will be faced with an expensive taxi ride (or long bus ride) from FPO to McLean's Town, (a distance of 50-60 miles), then the ferry ride in an open boat, then another 50-60 miles by road. I'm not even sure you can rent a car in Crown Haven but could be wrong on this.....Only for the intrepid traveller!!

Ft Lauderdale has many flights to TCB. Florida Coastal Airlines FLYFCA.COM has a daily nonstop from FLL that departs around noon allowing for most incoming connections. Very reliable. Gulfstream and Island Express also serve TCB. You can buy FCA on thier website or on travelocity or expedia. Hope this helps.
