Cast Netting for bait?

Dr. Ralph, (or anyone), you may have addressed this before, but I don't remember the answer. When we went fishing with Lincoln Jones last year, he first threw the cast net a few dozen times to load the boat with baitfish, which we cut up and used to catch a nice assortment of snappers and grey groupers. As a US visitor, am I allowed to cast net for bait, or does it fall under some regulation. Seems there some debate on the board about that issue before. (reality is, the cast net's pretty heavy to lug along, and I doubt I'll bring it, but I'm curious). Thanks

As I understand this, you can throw a castnet to catch small quantitites of bait for personal use. You can't harvest large quatities for sale or transport.
