Does anyone know if there are ATM 's in Hopetown?Do they take any special cards or basically all?
Has anyone used calling cards from the Abacos? anything special to look for in buying a phone card before I go to Hopetown?

Take cash. The US dollar is 1:1 with the Bahamian dollar, so you can use both over there. I don't remember seeing an ATM on Elbow, and the one I tried to use in Marsh Harbour "ate" my card and it took 2+ hours to get someone at the bank who had the authority to open the ATM and get my card back for me (island time, y'know). We used our credit cards for big restaurant and gas bills for the boat, and just brought a wad of green for everything else. Besides, sitting and enjoying a beautiful beach doesn't take much dough!
There are no ATM's in Hopetown or on Elbow Cay. There is a bank that is open for a few hours, once a week. I think it is Tuesday morning but it has been awhile and I forget. Maybe someone else can bring us up to date on this one.

Suggest you get a Batelco phone card, they're widely available in Abaco, 99 cents/min to the US.

There are no ATM's on Elbow Cay (and the grocery stores don't give "cash back" either - a visitor on the ferry asked me that the other day).
There are a couple of ATM's in Marsh Harbour which is a $20 round-trip ferry fare.
Bring mainly travellers cheques and some cash. Travellers cheques are accepted everywhere.
