I am glad I can ask this question from far away: When I lived in Marsh Harbour, there was a bakery in town that baked fresh hot bread every day. Are they still there, and how much does the bread cost?:)

I can't remember the name of the bakery but we always shop there when we are in Marsh. Yum

We had gotten some kind of bisquit/cheese sandwiches once. I don't know if it was the bakery. It was near the Subway and it was very good. But that was a couple years ago.

Depending how far back you were living there, Bunyon Key was the main baker on Marsh Harbour for a generation. It's where we would go on our daily school break, for a hot bun and maybe a tin of chocolate milk. Island Bakery is the biz now, yes Angie, by the Subway (now changed, I heard).

The bakery near the Subway (which is now closed I think) is Island Bakery. Very small place, but excellent baked goods. Reasonably priced. Get there before noon, as mostly everything is gone after then. Fresh baked daily. Try the cinnamon rolls!!

Reason I knew it was by the Subway was because we were going to get subs (we love Subway) and then got confused what store we were in! ha! ha! Hey Half, what is a tin of chocolate milk?

Carnation made/makes a chocolate milk (real creamy smooth), and was in a 'tin' can the same size as evaporated milk. It was sixpence (6d) in 1963, and a large buttered bun and milk was a shilling(1/-) about .14 cents US. Right from the oven in time for break.:)

Okay, my mom and dad said the name of the people was Keys, Mr. and Mrs. Keys. That's all no first names, but I remember that we had to go up and around the hill a little. It was definitely in Marsh Harbour, and boy was it good, all you needed was butter and you were set. Also, one day, we drove down to Sandy Point, or near there anyway, and my dad went out in a row boad to a bigger boat and climbed the ladder up into it. When he came back he had a crate of lobsters. We took them home and boiled and ate them with Kechup, until they were all gone. Now, people here in Texas say we were nuts to do that, but hey, it was GOOD! I have never eaten so much lobster at one time ever again in my life. Also, when I tell people I lived in the Bahamas when I was young, their jaw nearly always drops, no one from here gets to do that. So, enjoy your life, lots of people in other places really envy you! bl

Yes, your definitely right, butter would have been much better, but when you are only 8 years old, you really don't know. I have learned a whole lot since then. Are there still lobster there, can you still buy them off the boats? And if so, how much could I get one for, if I were able to come? That would be so nice!

We have bought lobster tails from different people. I think the price is between $12 and $13 a pound. We bought in TC and last year on Guana. They were delicious. I guess in MH you could probably get them off a boat. Good luck....yummy!:)
